German Promoter Declares Bankruptcy

(VIP-NEWS) — In a recent turn of events, Ewents GmbH, the promoter behind German events like Close, Inurfase, and Verträumte Angelegenheiten, has announced the cessation of its operations following a filing for insolvency.

The company cites insufficient ticket sales and escalating costs as key factors hindering its ability to sustain event planning and execution.

As a consequence, the Close OPNAIR event scheduled for May 11th stands canceled, leaving ticket holders in a state of uncertainty. Although new partners have been mentioned in a press release, their identities remain undisclosed, raising questions about the future of the aforementioned brands.

The financial setback appears to have stemmed primarily from the Close WEEKNDR event held on March 15 and 16, 2024, at the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen.

Managing director Sven Schaller attributed substantial losses to this event, noting a significant decline in ticket sales compared to previous years alongside a considerable rise in operational expenses.

Efforts to secure new sponsors and donors proved futile, further exacerbating the financial strain on the company. Consequently, Ewents GmbH, established in 2017 and renowned for organizing EDM festivals and club events primarily in North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Baden-Württemberg, and Bavaria, has opted to cease its operations.

This decision impacts twelve permanent employees and three freelancers associated with the company, underscoring the broader ramifications of its closure within the events industry.

Alongside the brands Close, Inurfase, and Verträumee Erde, other events organized by the company, such as Inferno and Voltage, also face an uncertain future in light of this development.
