DETROIT LAKES, MN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The 10,000 Lakes Festival(10KLF) is the latest festival to join the expanding partnership known as the Music Festival Alliance. By joining the alliance, 10KLF aligns itself with six other regional festivals across the U.S., including Wakarusa (Kansas), High Sierra (California), All Good (West Virginia), Harmony (California), Gathering of the Vibes (Connecticut) and Telluride Blues & Brews (Colorado).
The festivals are hoping that by forming an alliance, they will have the leverage to compete with the larger players in the growing festival scene such as Live Nation, AEG Live and C3 Presents.
Organizers for the aligned festivals are considering a number of synergistic areas where collaborative efforts may bear fruit.
One such area is event scheduling. Members of the Alliance are exploring the potential of coordinating their schedules to provide attractive routing opportunities for well-known artists on summer tour, thus reducing booking costs.
Another area is sponsorship deals and the group has retained Zenbu Media to coordinate their sponsorship efforts.
"They’ll be a lot stronger as a group," David Larson, one of the organizers for 10KLF told the Detroit Lake News "[sponsors] will be more impressed with 300,000 attendees as opposed to 20,000 to 50,000 (annually)"
