Gaylord's Convention Center Project Moves Forward

AURORA, Colorado (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Gaylord Entertainment planned Western-themed hotel and convention complex in Aurora has taken a step forward after the city approved a funding package that could amount to more than 500 million for the project.

According to the Denver Post, the final funding obstacle is Aurora’s request for $85 million in state sales tax subsidies, which the Colorado Economic Development Commission says it will decide upon by the end of 2011.

All told, Gaylord estimates that the convention center will cost $824 million and says that the incentive package is necessary to make the project financially feasible.

Gaylord currently operates three other convention and hotel complexes in the U.S. as well as Opryland in Nashville. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
