BERLIN (CelebrityAccess) – Sony Music Entertainment has named Daniel Lieberberg as President, of the label giant’s Continental Europe and Africa divisions.

Based in the company’s Berlin offices, Lieberberg will oversee Sony Music’s operations across the two regions, and will be responsible for breaking new artists and developing new business opportunities for Sony in the territories. Lieberberg’s oversight will not extend to the Iberian Peninsula, including Spain and Portugal.

Before he joined the Sony team, Lieberberg was at Universal Music Germany where since 2014 he oversaw the company’s domestic business in Berlin, including the Vertigo/Capitol & Polydor/Island labels. While at UMG, he oversaw the signing of artists such as Lana Del Rey, Volbeat, Unheilig, Andreas Bourani, and Felix Jaehn.

He began his career as on the live side, working as booker and talent buyer for Marek Lieberberg Konzertagentur, Germany’s leading concert promoter. In this role, he was responsible for booking German festivals, Rock am Ring/Rock im Park, working with artists like the Fugees, Weezer, Alanis Morissette, Faithless and Linkin Park.

“I would like to thank [Sony Music CEO] Rob Stringer for this fantastic opportunity. I am excited to be leading such a successful group of territories. I look forward to working with the many talented executives across the company to take advantage of the vast creative and technological opportunities in Europe and Africa to aggressively build on Sony Music’s global artist development successes.” – Staff Writers
