LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres announced that she’s heading out for her first stand-up comedy tour in fifteen years.
Well, ‘tour’ might be a little too strong a word for the series of dates DeGeneres is planning as she is only scheduled to perform in three cities on the West Coast, at least for now.
DeGeneres will be performing at a trio of shows at San Diego’s Balboa Theatre from August 10-12; then a second trio of shows at San Fran’s Davies Symphony Hall from August 15-17; and finally, a pair of dates at Benaroya Hall in Seattle on August 22nd and 23rd.
“I’m doing my first stand-up shows in 15 years,” DeGeneres posted on social media. “I’m coming to #Seattle, #SanFrancisco and #SanDiego. Come see me,” DeGeneres posted in her social media.
At the final stop, she’ll be teaming up with Netflix to record a comedy special. An official release date for fans to watch the special on the streaming platform has not been announced, but Netflix said it was ‘coming in 2018.’
“I’m excited to do it, I’m excited for you to see it,” she said earlier this year in announcing the special. “And now, each one of you, you get to Netflix & chill with me. How about that?”
While DeGeneres has been known as a television star since the early 1990s when she was featured on the sitcom ‘Ellen’ she got her start in stand-up comedy, including a long-running gig as the emcee at Clyde’s Comedy Club in New Orleans before she started to tour nationally by the early 1980s.
