LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the names of almost 400 artists and executives who have been invited to join the organization.

The prospective new members were selected based on professional qualifications, with a focus on fostering diversity and equity within the Academy.

The 2022 class includes 44% women with 37% belonging to underrepresented ethnic and racial communities. As well, 50% are drawn from countries and territories outside of the United States.

Additionally, four individuals have been invited to join multiple branches of the academy, however, they will be required to select on branch when accepting membership.

Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy’s membership in 2022.
