SYDNEY, AUS (CelebrityAccess) – Former Triple J presenter and DJ Ebony Boadu has made a significant move into the realm of indie labels, joining Mushroom Labels as the A&R manager. The announcement on Tuesday (January 23) highlighted Boadu’s new role based at Mushroom Group’s Sydney office, reporting directly to Liberation managing director Damian Slevison. Boadu brings with her an impressive profile that rivals many of the acts already part of Mushroom’s roster.

Prior to this role, Boadu co-hosted the triple j Breakfast program for two years and curated the Saturday night music show for the state-funded broadcaster. Her expertise as a DJ has taken her to various Australian festivals, including Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival, Lost Paradise, and Listen Out. Notably, she has supported artists like Stormz and Kaytranada, in addition to headlining her own successful tours. This new chapter at Mushroom Labels signifies a promising continuation of Boadu’s impactful journey in the music industry.

“We are really excited to have Ebony join the A&R team,” commented Mushroom Labels COO Chris Maund in a statement announcing Boadu’s appointment.

“Her experience at triple j and as a DJ has given her invaluable artist/industry relationships and very broad and diverse taste. She has an infectious energy and is perfectly placed to aid our existing roster and uncover future stars.”

Boadu, a passionate enthusiast of electronic and hip-hop music, initially made waves on Triple’s Saturday night House Party. Her presence and energy became even more prominent in 2021 when she took the helm of Breakfast with Bryce Mills. This marked a significant role transition for Boadu, who dedicated herself to the full-time brekky run until December 2022.

“Ebony’s heart, passion, and infectious energy has consistently translated through the mic,” read a statement announcing her departure from triple j, posted November 2022.

Together with Mills, the ABC noted at the time, she “delivered some spectacular content,” from locking in The Wiggles for their iconic Hottest 100 topping Like A Version to interviews with Lizzo, Jack Harlow, The Kid LAROI, and Tame Impala and more.

“Ebony’s passion and obsession has always been music,” reads a statement from Mushroom, the Melbourne-based indie music force, “and she is excited to now be taking up an A&R role at Mushroom Labels to focus further on mentoring, curating, and working behind the scenes to nurture the country’s next generation of stars.”

Considered the core of the Mushroom Group’s artist and label services division, Mushroom Labels is home to a raft of label imprints, including Liberation Records, Ivy League, I OH YOU, Soothsayer, Bloodlines, Liberator Music, and 100s + 1000s.
