DUBAI, UAE (CelebrityAccess) — Sony Music Publishing announced the opening of a new office in Dubai and the appointment of Dounia Chaaban as Managing Director of the new regional operation, effective immediately.
The new office will serve as the flagship office in the region, with Chaban reporting SMP’s SVP, International Dan Nelson.
Chaaban began her music business career at Anghami, the Middle Eastern music streaming platform where she spent the better part of a decade in a variety of roles, including Arabic Indie Community Lead, where she worked with artists across the region. Her other roles in Artist Relations Manager at Believe Music.
“I look forward to working hand in hand with the incredibly talented team at Sony Music Publishing to propel the MENA music industry to new heights. Together, we will create an environment that nurtures creativity, fosters innovation, and unlocks the boundless potential of the region’s musical landscape,” Chaban stated.

The opening Sony Music Publishing’s new office in Dubai comes days after Universal Music Group announced the launch of a new music hub in Dubai, highlighting the increasing importance of the Middle East-North Africa (MENA) region in the music ecosystem.
