AUCKLAND, Australia (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Two days after Australia's Big Day Out festival kicked off in Auckland, Sunday’s sold-out event at the Gold Coast Parklands in Southport marked the second show of a seven-stop Australasian trek.
A sold-out crowd of 55,000 patrons rocked out to some of the world’s hottest artists, both home-grown heroes and international guests.
Early on the Blue Stage, rockers Airbourne performances as frontman Joel O’Keefe made his way to the top of the stage roof.
Main stage sets throughout the day consisted of Bliss N Eso, Birds of Tokyo, John Butler Trio, TOOL, and Iggy & The Stooges . Over on the Orange Stage, Rammstein’s explosive, pyrotechnic set raised the bar even higher.
Visitors to Australian shores such as Bloody Beetroots,
LCD Soundsystem and festival closer, M.I.A, tore up the Boiler Room, while locals such as Angus &
Julia Stone, Wolfmother, Washington, Gyroscope, Sia and plenty of others drew huge crowds.
Medical treatment numbers throughout the day were steady and with most of those cases assessed being due to lack of sunscreen, and proper footwear.
From the Gold Coast, the BDO crew head straight to Sydney for two events: the sold-out Wednesday, January 26th date another show Thursday, January 27th. Then it's onto Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
