Four days before Pennywise's free June 19 concert in the parking lot of Tower Records on Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood, Calif., the city pulled the plug on the event. Proper permits were obtained but the city decided that the band's song "F**k Authority" was too offensive to be performed publicly in the streets.
According to the band's spokesperson, the song was written not as an attack on authority in general, but as a protest against the widespread corruption in government and in the police force. The group is currently scouting a new location for the free performance.
