LONDON (Hypebot) –
Myxer today announced a deal to add EMI Music’s digital catalog to its mobile offering. The agreement, which covers the US and Canada, makes EMI the first major label to make its catalog available on Myxer’s mobile internet platform.
Because Myxer is mobile web based, it is accessible via all careers and on most mobile phones. The two companies will also leverage Myxer’s customizable mobile web platform to create artist-branded mobile sites.
“Myxer is a new kind of partner for EMI Music as we strive to offer fans more ways to discover music and experiment with ways to connect our artists with their fans,” said Mark Piibe, Global Head of Digital Business Development for EMI Music.
“Myxer has long seen mobile technology as the best path to connect artist and fan, and we’re thrilled to have one of the world’s leading music companies in EMI leveraging our platform and working in partnership with us.” said Myk Willis, CEO of Myxer. “Whether an artist is an independent or part of a major label like EMI, mobile provides an unmatched opportunity to strengthen the artist-fan relationship and create new opportunities in music.”
