NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Apparently punk is dead. The former Bowery site of CBGBs, once the beating heart of the New York punk scene is now being redeveloped by John Varvatos Enterprises to serve as a fashion boutique.
Originally opened as a bluegrass and folk-oriented venue, the club quickly became the stage from where acts like Blondie, The Talking Heads, Television, Patti Smith Group, The Voidoids, and The Ramones made their bones.
All that is over though, the club shuttered in 2006 and the space will now be occupied by a corporation who describes itself thus:
"VF Corporation is a leader in branded lifestyle apparel including jeanswear, outdoor products, image apparel and sportswear."
Well, it was fun while it lasted I guess. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
