Lionel Richie Named As 2016 MusicCares Person Of The Year

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the MusiCares Foundation and The Recording Academy, and Bill Silva, Chair of the MusiCares Foundation Board announced that Lionel Richie will be honored as the 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year. Musicares provides support for music people in times of medical, personal or financial need.

Richie will be feted at 26th annual benefit gala dinner and concert held in Los Angeels two nights prior to the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. The concert will feature Lady Antebellum and Pharrell Williams, as well as singer/songwriter Luke Bryan, reigning Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year with more TBA.

Rickey Minor, current music director for "American Idol" and past two-time music director for the Grammy Awards will serve as the musical director for the evening.

The 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year gala will also include a silent auction, followed by a dinner, and the award presentation. – Staff Writers
