Philip Ginthör To Helm Sony Music GMA

VIENNA, Austria (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Philip Ginthör has been tapped as the new CEO of Sony Music GSA, filling the shoes vacated by Edgar Berger, who has assumed the role of CEO & Chairman of Sony Music International.

Ginthör started in media at Condé Nast publications in 1997, but moved to Bertelsmann AG, where he was promoted to corporate development at BMG group headquarters, working on both the executive office and in A&R at J Records. He then helmed the Progressive department, developing new talent with Sony BMG in Munich and took over the management of the Sony-BMG Columbia Germany repertoire Division and also the direction of Four Music in Berlin in 2007.

"Philip has years of experience in successful artist development, with the strategic extension of our business model, and possesses invaluable expertise in the entertainment industry," Berger said in a statement. "He will continue to advance our growth in the region together with the teams in Germany, Switzerland and Austria."

"I thank Edgar for his great trust in me," Ginthör said, "and I am very much looking forward to my new, broadened assignment and the challenges it will bring. I am sure that Sony Music in Germany, Switzerland and Austria with its great local and international artists and its teams is well placed to generate a steady stream of talent and actively expand and refine our business model." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
