COLUMBIA, Md. (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Tickets for the 2012 installment of the Virgin Mobile FreeFest went in record time in a matter of just two minutes.
The festival is set to take place Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md, with a lineup that features Jack White, Skrillex, M83, ZZ Top, NAS, Santigold, Alabama Shakes, and a dozen additional artists.
If you failed to secure a ticket, all hope is not lost. Virgin Mobile is providing tickets to those who volunteer their time at homeless youth shelters through their RE*Generation, a charitable initiative seeks to reduce youth homelessness. The past three Free Fests have garnered more than 75,000 volunteer hours and more than half a million dollars in donations. Last year, enough money was raised to faciliate the opening of the “The RE*Generation House by Virgin Mobile," homeless shelter in nearby Washington D.C. Proceeds from this year's even will help to support staffing and programming at the facility, as well as other similar programs around the D.C. Metro area.
The The RE*Generation’s “Free I.P.” runs through Sept. 28th and require would-be concert-goers to volunteer several hours of theri time in exchange for a ticket, while supplies last. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
