PHILADELPHIA (CelebrityAccess) — Blizzard Entertainment announced that the 2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals will take place at the 19,500-capacity Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, September 29th.

Now in its second year, the Overwatch League, launched in partnership with major sports franchises such as the New England Patriots and AEG, features players competing to be crowned as the top players of the team-based video game Overwatch, published by Blizzard Entertainment.

The two teams that qualify for the Grand Finals will head to Philadelphia to compete for the League’s championship trophy and a share of the US $1.7 million prize pool—with the winning team getting $1.1M and the runner-up taking home $600K.

The 2019 Grand Finals will be live-streamed on Twitch in 190 countries, and broadcast in the U.S. on ABC from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. EDT on September 29. It will also be available on the ESPN app,, and the Overwatch League app.

Additionally, the Grand Finals will air in the following countries via additional platforms: Canada (TSN), China (Zhanqi, NetEase CC, Bilibili and Huya) France (Mediawan), Germany (Sport1), and Russia (E Terra TV).

While most of the league’s games have taken place at Blizzard Arena on Los Angeles this year, the company announced that for the league’s next season, each team would be playing at least some of their matches in its home city.

In the current season, select teams played “homestand weekend” games to allow fans to cheer their regional teams at a live game. One such weekend took place at the Allen Event Center arena in Allen, Texas at the end of April, with the Dallas Fuel battling several teams, including their regional rivals the Houston Rivals over two days in front of capacity crowds.
