CANTON, OH (CelebrityAccess) — ASM Global, the company formed by the merger of AEG Facilities and SMG, has been named as the new operator of the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

ASM Global’s Blake Schilling has been named the General Manager of the stadium.

First dedicated as Fawcett Stadium in 1938, the 23,000-capacity venue is part of the Johnson Controls Hall of Fame Village, adjacent to the Professional Football Hall of Fame and hosts the league’s annual Hall of Fame game. The stadium was renamed the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in 2014 after  Tom Benson, owner of the NFL team the New Orleans Saints, donated $11 million to the hall of fame, with virtually all of the money dedicated to the stadium’s remodel.

Starting in 2015, the stadium was partially closed while undergoing a the first phase of a $200 million refurb that was completed in 2016. The stadium is slated to host the NCAA Division III Football Championship in 2020 and 2021.

The Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium joins other sports facilities managed by ASM Global, including Soldier Field in Chicago, Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, State Farm Stadium in Glendale, NRG Stadium in Houston, and 18 others throughout the world. The stadium is named for the late Tom Benson, former owner of the New Orleans Saints.

Bob Newman, President and CEO of ASM Global said, “This wonderful venue is located within one of the most important places for pro football fans anywhere in the world. ASM Global’s management of this special and unique facility is an exciting addition to our family of venues.”
