BUDAPEST (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Sziget 2008 is shaping up and the first slate of bands to perform at the popular Hungarian festival have been announced.
Iron Maiden, German punkers Die Ärtze and R.E.M. have all been confirmed for this year's event which is set to kick off on August 12-18 on Obudai in Budapest, Hungary.
This year's event will be shorter, 5 days with a "0 day" event with one big concert, in this case, featuring Iron Maiden, instead of 8 days as it has been in previous years. Stay tuned for more details on the lineup as they become available.
The festival started in 1993 as a fairly modest student-oriented affair and has since grown to become one of the top Summer camping events in Europe with a peak attendance in 2006 of more than 385,000 people.
