John Scher will re-enter the concert promotion business with Metallica's Summer Sanitarium show on July 8 at Giants Stadium in New Jersey. The show is a
co-promote with Ocesa Presents.
Scher is now free to promote again after Judge Katharine Hayden, in the US
District Court for the District of New Jersey, ordered a temporary injunction
against Clear Channel Entertainment on March 14, overruling its non-compete
agreement with Scher.
The judge ordered mediation and we were in it for more than a month and wasted a lot of time," Scher told CelebrityAccess. "I went back to the judge and said we're just not getting anywhere."
Scher says he is now in the process of putting a staff together and is looking to develop acts via a new business model – using longstanding relationships he already has with managers and agents, and developing new ones. "They value good regional marketing and producing."
In addition to the Metallica show, Scher is co-promoting two Red Hot Chili Peppers shows with Ocesa Presents at Madison Sqaure Garden in New York and Continental Airlines Arena in New Jersey, and one show with MassConcerts at the Verizon Wireless Arena in New Hampshire.
