SYDNEY, NSW (CelebrityAccess) — British rocker Ed Sheeran has proven to be a popular ticket in Australia and New Zealand, prompting the tour's promoter to add additional shows in key markets.
After strong demand, Sheeran will now play three shows in Melbourne and has added a second show in both Brisbane and Sydney.
The singer-songwriter is also due to be the first artist to perform in the still under construction Perth Stadium which is due to open in time for his March 3rd concert. Other shows include the Adelaide Oval, as well as a trio of shows in Auckland and two in Dunedin after his Australian tour.
Sheeran's tour ties homegrown heroes AC/DC's 2010 record of 14 stadium shows in in Australia and New Zealand and is on track to challenge Adele's dominating run of the region in 2016.
“I’m overwhelmed with the response, to match that (AC/DC) record is very humbling,” Sheeran said in a statement. “I really can’t wait to get down there.”
