(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The House of Blues responding to complaints by the L.A Gay & Lesbian Center, has cancelled an upcoming Sizzla date at the HoB in West Hollywood, CA.
Sizzla, a Jamaican dancehall artist, has sparked controversy with lyrics which seem to espouse the killing of gays has drawn fire in the past. The United Kingdom denied him an entry visa last year and his European tour was cancelled after protests.
“It’s ironic that while a foreign government is preventing a singer who incites violence against gay people from entering its country, the House of Blues—whose mission is to ‘promote racial and spiritual harmony through love, peace, truth, righteousness and non-violence’—is inviting him to perform in West Hollywood and Cleveland,” said Lorri L. Jean, chief executive officer of the L.A.
