Stereolab keyboardist and vocalist Mary Hansen was killed in a bicycling accident in London on December 9 when she was hit by a car. She was 36.
Band spokesman Mick Houghton, said, "We believe a vehicle, possibly a truck, backed into her, but I really don't know much more than that at the moment," the BBC reports.
In a statement, the band said, "The suddenness of her death has shocked the band. Mary was a special person. Our thoughts are with her family and friends who will miss her greatly."
Hansen joined the band in 1992.
