Musicians Fighting Cancer Atop Empire State Building And Mt. Everest

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — In support of the Love Hope Strength Foundation’s cancer awareness work, musicians Mike Peters (The Alarm), Billy Duffy (The Cult), Slim Jim Phantom (The Stray Cats) and Dave Wakeling (The English Beat), will give a concert at the top of the Empire State Building on April 16th.

The event will feature a morning ascent up the building’s 1,576 steps, led by two-time cancer survivor Mike Peters, as a precursor for “Everest Rocks” – the Love Hope Strength Foundation’s planned October fundraising trek and concert at the base camp of Mt. Everest.

Gibson Guitars and The North Face have signed on as sponsors of the event. New York’s Q104.3-FM will provide broadcast support for the live acoustic concert, and Apple’s iTunes will make a live recording of the song “Love Hope Strength” available for worldwide download following the New York performance.

The Love Hope Strength Foundation was recently developed by Leukemia survivors Mike Peters of Welsh rock band The Alarm and entertainment insurance executive James Chippendale in order to demonstrate the continued capability of cancer survivors, build a support network for cancer patients worldwide, fight for greater research funding and develop innovative music related outreach and awareness programs.

The foundation’s series of events, including the New York and Mt. Everest performances, will be documented by both the BBC and acclaimed MTV producer Alex Coletti for future television specials.
