LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) The movies “Now You See Me” and “Now You See Me 2” are being converted to a live, traveling show.
Lionsgate and The Works Entertainment have announced they will launch an “Illusionists”-type production in China in November. China played a significant role in the second movie. The movies center around four stage magicians who are set upon adventures, with their magic skills acting as their super powers. Unlike the movies, starring actors like Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Mark Ruffalo and Jesse Eisenberg, the show will incorporate professional magicians instead.
The show will feature James More from “Britain’s Got Talent” who will act as “The Showman.” Florian Sainvet, from “France’s Got Talent,” is the Manipulator. Sabine Van Diemen from “Holland’s Got Talent” is the Escape Artist, and Enzo Weyne from “France’s Got Talent” is the Mentalist, according to Entertainment Weekly. A different host will be added to each stop.
“We know Now You See Me Live will give fans worldwide a new way to engage with a franchise they know and love, and we look forward to launching it in China, a region that has been overwhelmingly supportive of the films,” Jenefer Brown, Lionsgate senior VP of global live, said in a statement.
There are several similar touring magic shows, with magicians adapting similar titles. For The Illusionists, the North American version, there are titles like The Daredevil, The Inventor, The Manipulator and The Trickster. Another established show is the Champions of Magic, featuring five illusionists.
