NEWPORT, Wales (CelebrityAccess) — Benji Webbe, the frontman for the reggae-metal band Skindred, was left scarred 'for the rest of my life' after being attacked with a broken bottle.
According to The Guardian, Webbe and his girlfriend were walking home in their from a birthday party at the Lounge Club in their hometown of Newport in Wales. Webbe provided details of the attack to Wales Online, saying that he and his girlfriend passed a group of women arguing, when Webbe's girlfriend jokingly told the women to calm down.
"One of the women turned to me and came within four inches of my face, screaming and shouting," he said. Webbe then said that another woman who had fallen and broken a glass container stood up and hit him with it, slashing his face and throat. He was taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital for treatment.
“Every time I talked, the gash would open further,” Webbe told Wales Online. “The nurse said it was definitely glass. It was about two inches from my jugular vein. At first, I didn’t realise the seriousness of the damage. I could have not been here today.” – Staff Writers
