Sir Cliff Richard's Residence Searched In Sexual Abuse Investigation

YORKSHIRE, England (CelebrityAccess) — Police have searched the home of British artist Sir Cliff Richard while investigating allegations of sexual abuse.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police released a statement confirming the search of the property in the Sunningdale area of Berkshire.

"A search warrant was granted after police received an allegation of a sexual nature dating back to the 1980s involving a boy who was under the age of 16 at the time.

"No one has been arrested and the owner of the property was not present," the statement read.

According to The Telegraph, the investigation is not believed to be connected with the ongoing Operation Yewtree investigation, set up in the wake of the Jimmy Saville sexual abuse scandal.

Richard is a prolific recording artist, best known for his time with The Shadows when they dominated the pre-Beatles pop charts. Over the course of his career, Richard has had more than 130 singles, albums and EPs make the UK Top 20 with 14 UK No. 1 singles.

Richard performed earlier this month at a charity fundraising concert on the Algarve and is currently believed to be vacationing in Portugal. – Staff Writers
