AEG Eyes Barclays Center

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Anschutz Entertainment Group is reportedly in the early stages of talks with Forest City Enterprises over the possible purchase of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

According to the New York Post, AEG is said to be willing to spend as much as $500 million to acquire the 19,000-seat concert and sports arena, though sources said that may fall below what Forest City is seeking for the venue. AEG's chief competition, Live Nation, is also expected to consider a bid.

The arena opened in 2012 after a $1 bn, 2-year construction. Forest City Enterprises owns a 55% stake in the arena with Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, who owns the Nets, holds the rest.

AEG declined the Post's request for comment.
