Bethel Woods Partners With Live Nation And John Schreiber

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, a project of the non-profit Gerry Foundation, located at the site of the Woodstock Festival in 1969, has reached agreements with Live Nation and producer John Schreiber.

Live Nation will co-produce a number of rock, pop and country events for the opening season, beginning July 1st. Producer John Schreiber will put on the first annual Bethel Woods jazz festival and pop concert.

“We are committed to programming a broad range of music to bring in a diverse audience to experience Bethel Woods in its inaugural season,” Jim Glancy, President, Live Nation New York, said in a statement. “We look forward to a continued collaborative relationship with Bethel Woods for summers to come.”

“Bethel Woods Center for the Arts provides a unique experience for artists across all genres of music,” said John Schreiber. “It has the allure of music past, while being at the forefront of live entertainment.”

Four-time Grammy winning jazz singer Diane Reeves has agreed to curate the Jazz Festival that Schreiber is producing at Bethel Woods.

“Because of the musical legacy surrounding our historic space, we are pleased that Live Nation has committed to reach beyond annual touring acts to help create unique summer programming at Bethel Woods, particularly around our Woodstock Anniversary weekend,” said Alan Gerry, chairman of the Gerry Foundation. “We are also fortunate to be working with John Schreiber, whose reputation for producing jazz and popular music events is unparalleled.”

Schreiber won a 2002 Tony Award as lead producer of the Broadway hit “Elain Stritch at Liberty,” and a 2004 Emmy Award for “Best Variety Special” as co-executive producer of the HBO television program based on the show. His other producer credits include the KOOL Jazz Festivals, the JVC Jazz Festivals, the Benson & Hedges Blues series, the weekly TV concert series Hard Rock Live (VH1), the New Yorker Festival, the American Express Gold Card Events program, the Discover Grammy Festival and the harman: how to listen music education program. He has been a producer of events at the White House for every President since Jimmy Carter.

The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, comprised of a 4,800-seat summer pavilion, a 12,000-capacity lawn, and an outdoor 700-seat ampthitheater, will open with a gala performance by the world-renowned New York Philharmonic on Saturday, July 1st. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
