TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — Even though he is heading into the home stretch of his Summer Sixteen Tour, Drake announced that he's been forced to postpone a handful of dates due to an ankle injury.
“We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night. I hate to be told I can’t do something, but under doctor’s orders to allow me time to recuperate, I am being forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only ever shown me unconditional support,” Drake wrote in letter posted to his October's Very Own blog.
Affected dates include one of his Oct. 9th show in his hometown of Toronto, October 13th in Philadelphia and October 16th in Newark. Shows set for Oct. 7th in Montreal, October 8th in Toronto and October 15th in Newark are still planned to go ahead at the time of publication.
“Toronto (my hometown) and Philadelphia (a city that was one of the loudest and showed so much love) are two of the intense three in a row show cycle that will be postponed. I was asked to postpone both Newark shows, but I have yet to perform there and so we compromised at one,” Drake said in his announcement.
Drake did not disclose how he injured his ankle, but he mentioned it on his Instagram account in Mid-September, writing “Two sprains and I’m still rolling like roll tide.” – Staff Writers
