GLASGOW, Scotland (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — This year's slate of MOBO Awards nominations has been announced and leading the list of nominees is the winner for last year's best newcomer award, rapper Chipmunk who picked up noms for Best UK Act, Best Hip Hop Act, Best Video and Best Song.
Also posting with multiple nominations are Dizzee Rascal, N-Dubz Tinchy Stryder. Beyonce, Kayne West, Jay-Z and Lady Gaga and Akon are among the nominations for the Best International Artist
This year's Jazz nominees included Diana Krall, Herbie Hancock, Madeleine Peyroux, Melody Gardot and Yolanda Brown.
One surprise nom was Vybz Kartel who picked up a nomination for Best Reggae act. Vybz Kartel, aka had his 2004 MOBO nominations controversially withdrawn due to homophobic lyrics, a frequent feature of dancehall music.
The MOBOS (Music Of Black Origin) Awards were established in 1995 and have been held annually since then. This year's awards ceremony will take place on September 30th at the SECC in Glasgow, marking the first time that the awards have been hosted outside of London.
