SAN FRANCISCO (CelebrityAccess) — Psy's 2012 video Gangam Style proved to be a runaway viral success, quickly racking up tens of millions of views when it was released, and propelling the South Korean performer into global awareness.
Well, it is still going strong and this week YouTube said that the video has exceeded the maximum number on its view counter by exceeding the 32-bit integer, meaning that the video has been viewed more than 2,147,483,647 times, equivalent to roughly a third of the world's population.
"We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer," a YouTube engineer said in a post on Google+.
YouTube, anticipating the problem, said that it has shifted their counters to a 64-bit integer. – Staff Writers
