PALM BEACH (CelebrityAccess) — Rapper turned reality show remodeler Vanilla Ice has been arrested in Florida and accused of burglary of a residence and grand theft.
Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Matthew Van Winkle, allegedly broke into a foreclosed home adjacent to one that he was remodeling for his DIY Network television show. Police told The New York Post that Van Winkle allegedly took furniture, a pool heater, bicycles and other items from the property.
Van Winkle reportedly surrender to police on Wednesday and cooperated with investigators by providing them a tour of his properties while they searched for other allegedly stolen items. He was booked and released from Palm Beach County jail after posting $6,000 bond.
He told TV station WPTV that the situation was a "misunderstanding" that's been "blown out of proportion."
His television network released a short statement about the incident following his arrest: "DIY Network has been made aware of this situation and is currently looking into the matter," the statement said. – Staff Writers
