VH1 Divas Las Vegas Raises $1.4 Million-Plus

The May 23 "VH1 Divas Las Vegas: A Benefit Concert for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation" raised more than $1.4 million for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music programs in America's public schools, and to raising awareness of the positive impact that music participation has on students.

Airing live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Ellen DeGeneres hosted the fifth annual event, while Wayne Newton served as the show's announcer. The all-star Diva lineup included Cher, Celine Dion, Mary J. Blige, The Dixie Chicks, and Shakira, plus special guests Stevie Nicks, Anastacia, Cyndi Lauper, and Whitney Houston performing with Mary J. Blige.

Since VH1 Save The Music began in 1997, more than $17 million worth of musical instruments has been donated to 750 public schools in 75 cities, improving the lives of more than 250,000 children.
