(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA has been so successful for the past three years that the Empire Polo Club wants a country music festival added to the site. However, Goldenvoice, the concert promoter, is not sure it can be financially viable. According to the Desert Sun, former promoter Marshall Harris staged a weekend country music festival at Empire Polo Club in 1998, and the event lost about $700,000 after taxes.
"They’re (the concerns) on GV’s (Goldenvoice) side," Empire Operations Manager Robert Del Mas told the paper. "We’re ready, willing and able to do it. I think they’re determining within their own organization whether they can do it (or) want to do it. We’re very much open to the idea."
Goldenvoice's Paul Tollett told the paper that there have been some discussions about a country festival, but that it is quite premature. –Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
