JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (CelebrityAccess) Ali, an elephant once owned by Michael Jackson at the Neverland Ranch, briefly escaped his confines Sunday at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens in Florida.
Apparently a gate was left open and the bull elephant wandered through it, winding up in a courtyard bheind the giraffe and elephant barn. Zoo staff lured the elephant back into the closure by plying Ali with food. The entire ordeal lasted about 20 minutes, according to the Associated Press.
“We perform animal escape drills so that our team can practice for just this sort of occasion,” Tony Vecchio, executive director of the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, told WFLA News. ”I’m proud to say our staff did exactly what they were supposed to and everything was resolved quickly.”
The 28-year-old Ali normally spends his days hanging out in a habitat with two older females named Sheena and Thandi.
