VIENNA, Austria (CelebrityAccess) – German entertainment giant CTS Eventim has been awarded a contract to build and operate a new arena in the Austrian capital of Vienna.
To be located on a currently empty lot near St. Marx Cemetery in Vienna, the 20,000 venue will host concerts by major touring artists along with sporting events.
According to Austrian newspaper Der Standard, Vienna had previously reached a similar operating agreement with Oak View Group but the contract was overturned by an Austrian administrative court after CTS Eventim raised issues around the bidding process.
However, a new tender was not issued and CTS Eventim was subsequently awarded the contract, Der Standard reported.
As of yet, no date for a groundbreaking on the new arena has been announced.
When completed, the new Vienna arena will join CTS Eventim current venue portfolio that includes Lanxess Arena in Cologne, the Apollo in London and the Waldbühne in Berlin.
