Drake Puts Family First, Cancels Tour

LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Drake has cancelled his British and European tour, citing his mother's medical problems.

Just a day before hop-hop's latest star was set to take the stage at Norway's Hove festival, Drake broke the news.

"Despite my best hopes, it is apparent that my mother will need surgery earlier than anticipated," Drake said according to London's Guardian. "In light of this news, I have made the difficult decision to cancel [the] tour in order to support her during her recovery, just as she supported me through the years."

Drake will remain in Toronto, where his mother has been battling a long-term rheumatoid issue. "My mom is sick," he explained in an MTV documentary. "So that scares me a lot. She's been the most supportive person I've ever had in my life – the only person that loves me unconditionally, really. I know a lot of people love me and I love a lot of people. But to love somebody unconditionally is different."

Drake reached out to fans on Twitter on Wednesday, "Back at my mom's house," he wrote. "Please include her in your prayers tonight as tomorrow she faces a true challenge."

Drake's tour was scheduled for the UK during the first half of July, with dates at festivals 'T in the Park' and Ireland's 'Oxygen Festival'. While concerts in London, Amsterdam and Paris will be rescheduled for November but the festival dates have been cancelled. — by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
