National Folk Festival Takes A Year Hiatus Due To Finances

NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The National Folk Festival has pulled the plug on planned events this year in light of budget constraints following last year's festival.

A statement by festival organizers noted that despite the artistic success of the festival in 2011, extreme heat and heavy rain discouraged attendance.

Organizers for the festival, which is typically held in the same city for three years consecutively, are still planning for a 2013 event in Nashville. The 2013 National Folk Festival will mark the 80th anniversary of the National Council for Traditional Arts founding. The NCTA has produced the festival almost continuously since 1934.

"The NCTA still believes deeply in the promise of the National Folk Festival for Nashville, and continues to seek ways to address the current fiscal challenge," read a statement from the NCTA. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
