LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Controversial artist Kanye West appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night for a wide-ranging interview that touched on everything from bipolar disorder to sneakers.
Kimmel started the interview off easy, touching on Kanye’s sneaker designs and Kimmel’s own experiences with wearing them in public, but he soon steered Yeezy into politics, bringing up his past support for President Trump.
Kimmel introduced the subject of Trump by noting that Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian recently visited the president in a bid for first-time drug offender Alice Johnson. Kimmel then jokingly asked if Kanye was worried about the meeting, asking “Were you ever concerned about leaving her alone in the Oval Office with him?”
“Well, he is a player,” Kanye conceded to the audience’s immediate amusement.
Kimmel raised the topic of West’s past support for Trump, with Kanye admitting that his support for the president had been more about challenging preconceived notions about what his politics should be than what they are.
“Everyone around me tried to pick my candidate for me, and then told me every time I said I liked Trump that I couldn’t say it out loud or my career would be over, I’d get kicked out of the black community,” West said.
West also touched on his family, talking about taking his daughter to work at his clothing design company and letting her draw sketches of dresses which were then converted into the real thing by his design team.
However, when Kimmel asked if West’s experience of having daughters had changed his outlook on women, he landed what was likely his best laugh line of the night, replying, “I still look at Porn Hub.”
