AUSTRALIA (CelebrityAccess) Conway Savage, 58, the longtime keyboard player and backing vocalist for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, died of complications from a brain tumor Sept. 2.

Savage, who joined the band in 1990, underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor last year, subsequently missing much of the band’s tour to support the album Skeleton Tree. The band’s publicist has confirmed the tumor caused his death.

The band said in a statement that Conway was “irascible, funny, terrifying, sentimental, warm-hearted, gentle, acerbic, honest, genuine.”

Savage was born in Victoria, Australia, and played in several bands including the Feral Dinosaurs, Happy Orphans and Dust on the Bible before joining the Bad Seeds, according to Pitchfork.
