BELGIUM (CelebrityAccess) RSCA Anderlecht, a football club in Belgium, has said that its foray into a cashless system with the help of PlayPass has been a great success with increased sales of 35 percent and increased fan engagement.
The club underwent a “rigorous” tender process to find a cashless payment provider that would integrate into its mobile application and CRM systems, according to Pan Stadia.
“We didn’t want a collection of suppliers gathered around, but separate to, our platform,” head of finance and administration Gert Boutsen said. “The PlayPass ethos is perfectly aligned to this model and has proven a great ongoing success.”
The NFC tag embedded into the team’s season ticket card is linked to the patron, allowing customer profiling and personalized communications. The PlayPass system routes every transaction through the team’s proprietary CRM system, providing the club with visibility on the fan’s consumption patterns, according to Pan Stadia.
PlayPass installed 65 cashless fixed point of sale terminals at bars and retail outlets and another 130 mobile points of sale, which completed 300,000 transactions during the season. The team also installed 45 fixed and 15 mobile readers at top-up stations.
“We were delighted to be selected and we are even more delighted that this first season has proved a resounding success,” PlayPass’s Carlo Waelens said. “We have integrated fully with the club’s commercial and IT teams and are excited at the plans for further developments to the digital platform next season.
