ANTIBES, France (CelebrityAccess) — The Elton John AIDS Foundation announced plans for A Midsummer Party, its first ever gala benefit concert in the south of France.
Set for July 24th at Johnny Pigozzi’s private Villa Dorane, the gala will feature a cocktail reception, a Provençal dinner, a live auction conducted by Simon de Pury and a special performance by Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
Funds raised from the event will go to support AIDs research, treatment and prevention. Between 2006 and 2015, the organization more than doubled its annual donation from $4.8 million in 2006 to a 24-year record of $9.8 million in 2015
“In 2019, no one should contract HIV, and no one should die of AIDS. Highly effective treatment for HIV is available, giving people living with HIV a normal life expectancy and making it impossible for them to spread the disease to others. The medicine, prevention therapies, and know-how exists. If we can ensure that all people know their status and have access to HIV preventive measures or consistently receive treatment, we can end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat. This is our goal and the reason for our fundraising. And that goal is within our grasp,” the EJAF said in a statement announcing the benefit.
