SAN ANTONIO (CelebrityAccess) — Real estate developer East Commerce Realty LLC announced plans to renovate Sunset Station in downtown San Antonio with plans to convert it into a live music venue.
According to the San Antonio Business Journal, the complex, which is located in St. Paul’s Square, will be renamed as The Espee and is part of a larger redevelopment of the downtown district designed to drive economic development.
“We see the potential that exists here, and we are confident that promoting The Espee as a music venue will help the East Side of downtown to continue to grow and prosper,” Don Thomas senior vice president at CBRE Group, told the San Antonio Business Journal.
The renovation will include six individual spaces inside of the depot that currently serve primarily as wedding venues, and will also include a refurb to the complex’s outdoor pavilion, which has a capacity of 4,500, the Business Journal reported.
Austin-based Margin Walker Presents, who already promote shows in the market, will handle booking at the new venue.
“The Espee venue will be a great place to showcase talent coming to South Texas,” Margin Walker founder Graham Williams told the Business Journal. “We are thrilled to start building a quality music program at such an important staple in San Antonio.”
