Anschutz Not Looking At Metro

DENVER (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A spokesman for Philip Anschutz has stated that there is no factual basis for the rumors that the billionaire mogul may be looking to acquire a trio of East Coast newspapers.

Rumors had been circulating around three papers, published in New York, Boston and Philadelphia by Metro International S.A. since the alternative newspaper, The Phoenix broke the "story" on their website on Friday, citing an unspecified source.

According to the Denver Business Journal, Anschutz had actually rebuffed offers from Metro on at least two occasions. "Our people responded [to the offers] that they weren't interested," Anschutz spokesman Jim Monaghan said.

Anschutz's Clarity Media already publishes daily papers in Washington, San Fran and Baltimore. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
