CARDIFF, Wales (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Cardiff outlet of the nightclub chain Barfly, located in the heart of the city near Cardiff Castle, has announced that they've ceased operations.
"After 10 years in the Welsh capital, Barfly has closed its doors for the last time." the club's managing director Be Rozzo said in a post on the venue's website.
"Over the decade, we've had the opportunity to present an array of extraordinary up and coming artists – some of whom have gone on to become festival headliners and household names.
"Cardiff has a rich musical heritage and many genuine music lovers, for this reason we hope at some point to return to the city in a location that better reflects the needs of the current generation of the artists and audiences." Be Rozzo added.
Originally opened in April, 2001, The venue has hosted numerous major touring artists over the years, including The Pet Shop Boys and Kings of Leon before they became a festival headliner. The venue's owner, MAMA Group PLC said they cloesed the venue due to a lack of business and resources for Barfly being distributed elsewhere in the Mama Group, the Guardian reported. The other five Barfly locations, including the London outlet will remain open.
