INDIANAPOLIS (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Lawyers for Live Nation have filed a request for a judge to dismiss a lawsuit brought against the promoter by the Shriners over a naming-rights deal for the Murat Centre in downtown Indianapolis.
In a brief filed on April 14th, LN's lawyers contend that Live Nation's lease for the Murat grants "rights that are broad in scope." According to Live Nation's attorneys, the only naming restriction in the lease refers to a requirement that Live Nation does not change the name of the 2,500-seat theater or the Egyptian Room, which LN has yet to do, the Indianapolis Business Journal noted.
"Changes to both appearance and structural integrity are required in order for Live Nation to need consent," Shawna Eikenberry, the author of the brief wrote. "MTA has pleaded itself out of court, and its complaint should be dismissed."
The Murat Shriners first lodged the suit against Live Nation after the promoter struck a 3-year naming-rights deal for the venue that included new signage with Old National Bank. Live Nation currently leases the building from the Shriner organization. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
