MIDEM Director Dominique Leguern To Quit

CANNES, FRANCE (VIP NEWS) – Dominique Leguern is to step down from her role as director of Cannes, France-based industry conference/trade fair MIDEM after its 2011 edition.

Announcing the decision yesterday Leguern said in a statement that she had been "proud to lead MIDEM and MidemNet during a period of significant transformation of the music industry."

"It has been fascinating to integrate the major digital actors, brands, advertisers, live music specialists and managers into the creative MIDEM mix," she went on to say, expressing her confidence that MIDEM will "continue to be an essential gathering for the international music community."

Leguern was appointed director of MIDEM in 2000, also overseeing MidemNet, the digital-focused sibling of the main MIDEM music conference. The 2011 leg is set to run from Jan. 23-26, with MidemNet due to begin one day earlier.

Leguern will assist tradeshow organizer Reed MIDEM with the search for her successor, according to a statement from the company.

"Dominique's passion, knowledge and understanding of the music industry have been enormous assets for MIDEM and our company," commented Reed MIDEM chief executive Paul Zilk in a statement.

"Under her stewardship, MIDEM and MidemNet have successfully anticipated the ever-changing needs of the business in the face of the many challenges it has experienced during the past decade," Zilk went on to say.
