NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — The Madison Square Garden Company announced that after two years, the New York Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes is taking a year-long hiatus while MSG retools the show.
In a statement released on Friday, MSG attributed the decision for the hiatus to production issues.
"While we were successful on a number of fronts, we believe there is additional work needed on the production, which cannot be completed before the start of this year’s show. Rather than showcase a product that is not yet at its best, we have made the decision to take a one-year hiatus," the MSG statement said.
During the interim, MSG said they plan to bring the troupe on tour, "expanding the brand" both in the U.S. and internationally. Upcoming events for the troupe include USO tour and the 2017 Tony Awards, MSG said.
MSG indicated that they plan to revive the show, which was intended as an off-season spin on the popular Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes, in 2018.
"We remain committed to the production and look forward to the show’s return in 2018," the statement added. – Staff Writers
