ATLANTA, GA -— (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment, LLC and Georgia State University announced today (August 20, 2004) the formation of a partnership to present the very best in Off-Broadway at Georgia State University’s Rialto Center for the Performing Arts.
“We are thrilled to have this partnership with Georgia State University,” said Robert Nederlander, Jr., managing member of Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment, LLC. “The Rialto Center is a critically-acclaimed, state-of-the-art venue and perfect for the productions we are bringing to the community. Our hope is that this programming will add to the already rich cultural landscape of the city of Atlanta.”
Last November, Nederlander brought the world premiere of Savion at the Rialto to Georgia State’s Rialto Center. “We had such a good experience with Savion that it was natural for this partnership to form,” said Carl Patton, president of Georgia State. “The university looks forward to the first of many impressive seasons of world-class entertainment at the Rialto Center in partnership with Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment.”
This partnership allows Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment to present multiple shows in the Atlanta market throughout the year, with a focus on Off-Broadway and other touring productions. The Rialto is the newest addition to Nederlander’s circuit of more intimate theaters, including facilities in San Francisco, California and Bethesda, Maryland.
This exciting partnership begins with this fall’s production of the Off-Broadway smash, Matt & Ben. Running from Sept. 21 through Oct. 2, Matt & Ben will have only 15 shows in Atlanta, with two shows on Fridays and Saturdays and a Sunday matinee. Information on Matt & Ben, as well as on ticket sales will be released in the near future.
