Pixies To Play First Ever Acoustic Set At Newport Folk Festival

The Pixies will play their first-ever live acoustic set at Festival Productions' Dunkin' Donuts Newport Folk Festival (August 4-7) in Newport, RI on August 6.
“I hope that Pete Seeger doesn’t go after the Power supply with an axe, for us going acoustic,” says Pixies’ front
man Frank Black.

“This is history in the making, for any Pixies fan and for anyone who loves live music,” said associate producer
Nalini Jones. “Pixies are a huge force in American music. To be there when they go acoustic for the first time, to
have this chance to hear their songs in a whole new way—that’s just unbelievable.”

August 5: Arlo Guthrie/Nanci Griffith (Guthrie appears with special guests Abe Guthrie, Gordon Titcomb & The Mammals in
‘Alice's Restaurant 40th Anniversary Massacree') at The Newport Casino, International Tennis Hall of Fame.

August 6: At Fort Adams State Park–
Dunkin' Donut Stage (Pixies, Richard Thompson (solo acoustic), Patty Griffin, Bela Fleck Acoustic Trio featuring Bryan Sutton and Casey Driessen, The Del McCoury Band, Ray Lamontagne, and The Holmes Brothers); Borders Stage (Odetta, Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion, Teddy Thompson, Song Circle with The Kennedys, The Lonesome Sisters and Caitlin Cary & Thad Cockrell); and Waterside Stage (Foghorn Stringband, Jim & Jennie and The Pinetops, The Wiyos and Jesse Lege & Bayou Brew).

August 7: At Fort Adams State Park–

Ward, Kasey Chambers, Buddy Miller and Old Crow Medicine Show); Borders Stage (Jim Lauderdale, Jane Sieberry, Song Circle with Jim Lauderdale, Buddy Miller and Larry Campbell, Kaki King and Krystle Warren & the Faculty); and
Waterside Stage (The Mammals, Old School Freight Train, Hot Buttered Rum String Band and Woody Russell).

General admission tickets to Fort Adams events are $48.00 for adults on August 6 and
$58.00 for adults on August 7; $5.00 for children between 2-12 either day–children under two are admitted
free. A limited number of adult two day tickets are available for $90.00. Adult
tickets go to $53.00 on August 6 and $63.00 on August 7 on festival weekend, if available.
